ICIEA invited Stuart Adams from England to be head chef at the 'British Kitchen'. Stuart, who has long been fed up with Japanese people’s bad opinion of British cooking, introduced several delicious dishes which he felt were representative of traditional British cooking. The menu consisted of Broccoli and Cheese Soup, Scottish Farmhouse Eggs, Pea and Mint Fritters, Punchnep Mash from Wales and Whim Wham for dessert. The 25 participants enjoyed cooking together under the instructor’s instruction (carried out in fluent Japanese) and the kitchen became an epoch-making event which might just successfully change people’s prejudice about British cooking.
